Backpacks, luggage, packing cubes…travel gear I use to stay organized, pack a month’s worth of clothes into a carry-on, and make travel easy, comfortable, and convenient. This is the tried and true travel gear I use to stay organized while I travel.
(1) Samsonite Omni PC 3 Piece Set Spinner
The first time I truly felt like I was ‘adulting’ and crushing life was when I purchased this luggage set. I had a job that required me to travel for work and wanted to find the chicest luggage that didn’t cost a fortune.
This travel gear helps me stay organized as I take the small roller as my carry-on luggage for quick 3-5 night trips and use the middle and large rollers for longer travel with my husband. Both the 360 wheels and scratch-resistant case have kept my luggage looking like it’s the first time I’m using them. I’ve had my set for over 5 years and to this day, I do not have a single scratch or issue with the 360 wheels.
(2) eBags TLS Mother Lode Weekender Convertible Backpack
Ever seen a picture of the flower and scarf adorned long-tail boats synonymous with Thailand? Ever try to get off one with your roller luggage, in a foot of water, only to then have to lug your roller up the beach. Ugh!
Rookie move! That (thankfully) was not us getting off the longboat in Krabi because my husband and I had our eBags backpacks. They are amazing, hold more than you think, and are so durable. This coming from a girl who owns over 100 pairs of shoes, I packed 3 weeks of clothes for Thailand in this bag.
(3) Longchamp Le Pliage Medium Tote Bag
Did you read my ‘Ultimate Carry-on Essentials Packing List‘ post? I love this bag! It’s the perfect travel bag because of how versatile it is. I typically use it as my go-to carry-on but it also works double duty if you want to pack it in your luggage (it folds down flat into a small square) for all the extra souvenirs you purchase.
It’s an ultralight nylon canvas that looks chic whether shopping in Rome or hanging out at the beach in Phuket. I love it so much, it’s also my go-to gift for my friends & family who love to travel. I’ve had my Longchamp for close to 10 years and it’s time and again the perfect staple that is easy to clean, looks put together, and carries more than you think it should.
(4) AmazonBasics 4 Piece Packing Travel Organizer Cubes Set
When I first heard about packing cubes, I’ll admit, I thought they were stupid. I actually do really love them because of how easy this travel gear helps me stay organized and give you a sense of classification for your outfits.
When I first arrive for a trip, my packing cubes are arranged by tops, bottoms, and accessories. By the end of a trip, I use the packing cubes to separate clean vs dirty clothes. Gone are the days of sitting on my luggage praying everything will fit. Packing cubes help maximize every ounce of space.
(5) FlexSafe: Anti-Theft Portable Safe and Beach Chair Vault
If you’re a fan of Shark Tank you may have seen this item. I’m always nervous about heading to the beach, jumping into the ocean, and leaving all my possessions out in the open. I would constantly make sure either my husband or I would keep an eye on our stuff; however, even if you see someone close to your belongings, it would be too late before you’re able to get out of the ocean in time to intervene.
The FlexSafe solves this issue. It is small enough to pack, easily locks onto beach chairs and umbrella poles, and is slash resistant. It is somewhat expensive for a portable safe but so is your phone, passport, keys, and wallet to replace.
(6) Set of 3 All Purpose Waterproof Dry Bag
I like this set of 3 dry bags in different sizes based on the type of activity I’m doing. For example, when I go to the beach, I like using the large dry bag to carry my beach towels, hat, and cover-up. If I’m out on a boat, I’ll pack the smaller dry bag with my camera, sunglasses, and watch.
If you’re concerned about your possessions and don’t want to buy a FlexSafe, the small dry bag is a good alternative to pack your expensive items and bring into the water. You can use the shoulder strap as a cross-body to keep your items from floating away.
(7) Wet Bag
This item is also on my ‘Ultimate Carry-on Essentials Packing List‘ I like items that can work double duty. I use a wet bag for swimsuit to keep my small carry-on bathroom essentials organized. Since the bag is waterproof, if something leaks, it is easy to clean up. Likewise, you can put your wet swimsuit in the bag after a day at the beach and change in time for sunset cocktails.
(8) Toiletry Bag
In addition to the wetbag for swimsuit I use to keep my small carry-on bathroom travel gear, I also pack a ‘GO’ toiletry bag. In this bag, I keep bathroom staples like travel-sized shampoo, lotions, and Q-tips organized. I personally prefer to travel with two bathroom bags that are smaller (easier to maneuver in luggage) than one large bathroom bag that takes significant space. One usually has makeup and the other bathroom essentials.
(9) Luggage Tags
So I heard luggage companies sell one or two of the same models to make a profit 🤷♀️ In order to not get my luggage confused with others, I use bright luggage tags to differentiate my luggage. These luggage tags have cute designs and are made of durable silicone. I have the cactus set as a cute nod to living in Arizona.
I’ve gone through too many expensive luggage pieces, bad carry-ons, and countless ‘GO’ toiletry bags to count. I hope you found this post helpful to stay organized while traveling and prevent you from wasting money on products that don’t work.
