Everyone has that product or two they’re embarrassed to go into a store and feel judged for buying. Some embarrassing products are necessary for travel but I’m sure you’d prefer to buy online.
For me it’s buying a certain brand of chafing powder-gel as a beauty hack for a high-end face primer. You better believe I buy that online!
I have a couple of embarrassing but really great travel products to buy online to help you get the most out of your vacation. Try them out, you’ll thank me later:
(1) Compression Socks for traveling
Nothing screams really cool, cutting edge ‘elder millennial’ like compression socks. I started wearing compression socks on flights after suffering through two full days of sightseeing in Bangkok with kankles. My feet and ankles were so swollen from the flight, I finally succumbed to the realization compression socks aren’t just for hardcore CrossFit enthusiasts and lil’ old ladies with circulation problems.
Fortunately, these compression socks have fun patterns and also are great in a bind if you happen to run out of clean socks.
(2) Face Masks
Ever been on an international flight, look over and see someone with a face mask on? Yep, that’s me! I’d rather have soft, hydrated skin than be mildly embarrassed. Travel leaves my skin feeling dry and dull. These face masks are about a $1/ mask and will jump-start your skin back to hydration.
PRO TIP: stick a few in your makeup bag for Vegas. They may not help with a hangover but they will help bring your skin back to life.
(3) Travel Headlamp
I bet you’re wondering why you need a headlamp to travel especially if you’re not going camping. My husband goes to bed early while I like to read. I found using a headlamp provides me enough light without being too bright. Likewise, it’s helpful to have a headlamp to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom.
Also, if you’re in an unfamiliar hotel room, it’s nice to have a headlamp so you don’t stub your toe but don’t need to turn on the bright fluorescent lights which may make it hard to go back to bed.
(4) Embarassing but helpful Thigh Bands
Ever hear of chub-rub? Yes, it’s real. I don’t care if you’re a size 2 or 20, it’s a condition that equally affects us all. When I was in Thailand, we did a ton of walking in extreme humidity. The chub-rub and the chafing were so severe I wore chafing powder and bike shorts under my dresses to keep cool.
Nothing worked until I found these thigh bands. You guys, these bands are amazing! They stay put, do not add bulk and conceal nicely under your clothes. By far the most embarrassing product I’m happy I could buy online as they’re such a lifesaver!
(5) Needed Product: Wax Kit
Ever look in the mirror on vacation and realized you got a little too relaxed about your waxing habits? Feel free to take measures in your own hands and use these wax strips to take care of your unibrow.
(6) Acne Patch
I try to stay on a healthy eating and workout routine even on vacation. That being said, when in Rome…eat all the pizza. So when my face breaks out in revolt, I slap on one of these acne patches which helps bring all the impurities straight to the surface. There is something so grossly satisfying about peeling off the acne patch and popping that zit!
